About Dr Stanbridge
I am a qualified specialist psychiatrist based in Cape Town, South Africa and I see adults on an individual basis.
I have a special interest in women’s mental health and aim to empower women by caring for their mental health and assisting them in stepping into their power.
I work in a holistic and integrated way and believe that the mind, body and spirit are all interconnected and to truly care for mental health, we need to care for all three.
My approach to psychiatric care starts with building an authentic and trusting relationship between myself and my patients.
Whilst I often use evidence-based medication where deemed necessary, I acknowledge that the development of mental illness is multi-faceted and subsequently approach it in a multidisciplinary and complementary way. This includes medication, psychotherapy, nutrition, exercise, meditation, breathwork, gut health, supplementation and other complementary medicines.
I acknowledge the courage it takes to ask for help and respects my patient’s trust in me to be that helper.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University of Cape Town in 2008 and completed my internship and community service in Kwazulu-Natal and Cape Town. I attended Harvard University as a researcher from 2010 to 2011, completed my psychiatry specialist training at The University of Cape Town in 2018 and acquired my Master of Medicine in Psychiatry from The University of Cape Town in 2019. I moved into private practice in early 2019.
I am currently enrolled in the The Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and am completing courses on Mind-Body Medicine via correspondence.
